چکیده

A new genus of Pteridaceae subfamily Cheilanthoideae is established for what has long been known as Doryopteris ludens. The newly erected genus is named Calciphilopteris in reference to its substrate specificity to limestone. Calciphilopteris can be found throughout Southeast Asia, from Indo-China to New Guinea and Australia. New combinations are established for the four known species (Calciphilopteris alleniae, C. ludens, C. papuana and C. wallichii). Calciphilopteris is characterized by having a horizontal rhizome, semi-clathrate scales, indumentum on the petiole and lamina usually with fibrils and/or semito non-clathrate scales, and sporangia with 32 echinate or cristate spores.

Tryonia, a new taenitidoid fern genus segregated from Jamesonia and Eriosorus (Pteridaceae)

The Neotropical fern genera Eriosorus and Jamesonia have long been thought of as close relatives. Molecular phylogenetic studies have confirmed this notion but have also revealed that neither genus is monophyletic with respect to the other. As a result, all known species of Eriosorus were recently subsumed under the older generic name Jamesonia. Here, through an analysis of a four-gene plastid ...

Chemical constituents of Pteris cretica Linn. (Pteridaceae)

1. Subject and Source The group of fern from the genus Pteris (Pteridaceae) contains 250 cosmopolitan species (Mabberley, 1997). One species, P. cretica (Japanese name: ohbano-inomotoso) called Cretan brake fern is widely distributed in the temperate and warm area of Japan. Although some fern members of the family Pteridaceae are well known to contain carcinogenic C-14 illudane-type sesquiterpe...

A molecular phylogeny of the fern family Pteridaceae: assessing overall relationships and the affinities of previously unsampled genera.

The monophyletic Pteridaceae accounts for roughly 10% of extant fern diversity and occupies an unusually broad range of ecological niches, including terrestrial, epiphytic, xeric-adapted rupestral, and even aquatic species. In this study, we present the results of the first broad-scale and multi-gene phylogenetic analyses of these ferns, and determine the affinities of several previously unsamp...

Toward a monophyletic Cheilanthes: The resurrection and recircumscription of Myriopteris (Pteridaceae)

The fern genus Cheilanthes (Pteridaceae) has perplexed taxonomists for more than two centuries. Complex patterns of evolution involving rampant morphological convergence, polyploidy, hybridization, and apomixis have made the taxonomy of this group especially difficult. Fortunately, recent phylogenetic analyses have helped to clarify relationships among cheilanthoid taxa. Based on these findings...

The Pteridaceae family diversity in Togo

BACKGROUND The Pteridaceae family is the largest fern family in Togo by its specific and generic diversity. Like all other families of ferns in the country, Pteridaceae are poorly studied and has no identification key. The objective of this study is to perform a taxonomic revision and list establishment of this family of leptosporangiate ferns in the light of current available knowledge about t...
